Common causes:
Session expired: If a web-based integration (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Manus, Perplexity) stops syncing, your session may have expired. Remove the account in Settings and re-add it to sign in again.
Authorization expired: If Read AI stops syncing and shows a Reconnect action in Settings, its authorization has expired. Click Reconnect and repeat the Read AI setup steps for that account.
Network issues: Nessie requires an internet connection for syncing. It will automatically retry when connectivity is restored.
OpenClaw connection: If OpenClaw sync fails, verify your SSH credentials work with a regular SSH client first. Check that the OpenClaw session files exist at ~/.openclaw/agents/main/sessions/.
Hermes: If local Hermes conversations are not appearing, make sure you have completed at least one Hermes session on that Mac. For a remote Hermes machine, run nessie-daemon status there and confirm the API key has not been revoked.
Claude Code: If Claude Code conversations aren't showing up, make sure you have Claude Code installed and have run at least one session. If some sessions appear but you expected more, see "Fewer Claude Code conversations than expected" below.
Claude Cowork: If Claude Cowork sessions aren't appearing, make sure you have the Claude desktop app installed and have used Cowork at least once.
If sync continues to fail, contact us at founders@nessielabs.com with details about which platform is affected.
