MCP requires Cloud Sync to be enabled in Nessie. Go to Settings → Cloud sync and turn it on. MCP clients read from the cloud copy of your Nessie library because they cannot access your Mac's local database directly. See What Cloud Sync does for what gets uploaded, and Local machines and Cloud Sync for why MCP uses the cloud copy.
MCP gives AI clients direct access to your Nessie library over the network. Your Nessie account is required - you'll authorize access when you connect.
