Nessie offers two privacy modes, which you can switch between at any time in Settings → Privacy.
Privacy Mode Conversation content is not used to improve Nessie's systems. When Nessie needs to process content for an app feature, the content is used only to provide that feature.
Help Improve Nessie You opt in to share usage patterns along with generated artifacts and relevant snippets of your AI conversation transcripts to help us improve the product.
How Privacy Mode works with Cloud Sync Privacy Mode and Cloud Sync control different things:
- Privacy Mode controls whether your content can be used to improve Nessie's systems
- Cloud Sync controls whether your Nessie library is stored in Nessie Cloud so it can sync across devices and be used by MCP, Teams, and API-key devices
You can enable Cloud Sync while staying in Privacy Mode. In that case, your synced library is stored to provide Cloud Sync, MCP, Teams, and agent access, but it is not used for product improvement.
If Cloud Sync is off, your library remains local to your Mac. MCP, Teams, multi-device sync, and API-key devices will not be able to read that local-only data.
