Nessie has three distinct ways to send a context. Choose based on whether the recipient should open it privately in Nessie, collaborate on it, or read it publicly in a browser.
Private Nessie link
Use Copy link to copy a link to the exact context. A private link is only a pointer: it does not grant access. When the recipient opens it, Nessie checks their existing personal and team grants and then opens the context in the app. You can copy the same kind of private link for folders, conversations, and source roots.
Viewer or Editor access
Open Share, search for a person or choose a team audience, then select:
- Viewer — can open and read the current context
- Editor — can edit the context with you, including its Markdown, title, and emoji
A specific person can receive personal access or access via a team. Those grants are independent and additive. Removing one does not revoke another grant that still applies, and leaving a team does not remove a separate personal grant. After granting access, copy and send the private link so the recipient can open the exact context.
Public link
Enable Public link when anyone with the URL should be able to read the context in a browser without a Nessie account. Public pages stay updated as the context changes. Disable the public link to revoke that browser access.
Public readers see only that context and its images. They do not gain access to your other contexts, profile, source conversations, folders, or Nessie library.
To share a context
- Open the context and click Private or Share
- Add personal or team audiences and choose Viewer or Editor access
- Optionally enable Public link
- Copy the appropriate private or public link
